First produced in 1986 by the Royal Canadian Mint, the
$10 1/4 OZ Canadian Gold Maple Leaf
contains one–quarter ounce of .9999 pure gold.
These attractive fractional coins have been a favorite of investors since their release. Gold Maple Leafs should be handled with care. Because of their high purity they can mar more
easily than gold coins of lesser purity.
The front of the Maple Leaf features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse side depicts a Maple Leaf, the national symbol of Canada, from which the coin derives its name.
